Starry night?

I had to run errands early this morning.  When I returned home, I looked around the property and realized that with the cold weather and lack of snow, the ground looked hard and gray.  Mother Nature must have felt the same way. Unlike me, who ran inside, lit the woodstove, and snuggled in all day, She did something about it.

No, that’s not a starry night shot.  Here – this photo might clarify things a bit:

That’s my car window, courtesy of our youngest.  And this is our first real snow of the year.  We’ve had a few flurries, but nothing as soft and pretty as what is currently falling from the sky.  Nothing that takes the edge off life.  This is the kind of snow that covers the land with a blanket of soft sound – the sound of snowflakes landing on the earth.

Such a gorgeous girl – so much spunk and spirit.  She was definitely the queen of the barn.  Her passing was sudden and unexpected, and I miss her horribly.  She joins Margrett, whose passing I will never get completely beyond.

At another point in life, I would love to be able to raise Lincolns.  They are such grand creatures.   And these two ladies were the grandest of all.
